Fatigue Design of Scissor Lift
A scissor lift is an aerial work platform that can lift operatives in vertical direction. The scissor lift has a platform of length 9.86m and width 3.05m. It’s with capacity to lift to height of 8.3m and closing height of 1.4m. The height of the guard rail is 1.2m and the carrying capacity is 1000 Kg. The working mechanism of the lift involves dynamic loading of the structural components and the joints when operated to uplift and bring down the criss-cross X pattern, known as pantograph or scissor mechanism using hydraulic system. Due to this dynamic nature of hydraulic system, the members particularly their joints are prone to fatigue failure. Following images demonstrates the 3D model of scissor lift and its corresponding critical pin joint to assess for fatigue strength.
